An international engineering, architecture and consultancy company has completed the acquisition of new office space at Quorum Park in North Tyneside, despite the challenges presented by Covid-19.

Ramboll, which employs 16,500 people globally, is relocating its 30-strong Newcastle team from the city centre after spending the past six years located on Newcastle’s Quayside.

The firm has signed a 5-year lease on 2,500 sq.ft of office space at the NEON building. Attracted by Quorum Park’s amenities and accessibility, the firm says the move will allow it to grow a more sustainable business in the North East.

NEON was launched in 2018 following the creation of 18 contemporary designed suites with shared amenities such as a barbecue area, table tennis and pool tables to help encourage cross-collaboration between occupiers.

In the last two months, landlord Shelborn Asset Management has also welcomed Verisure and Concept Group to NEON in deals totalling 37,000 sq.ft.

Greg Davison, partner at Cushman & Wakefield and joint letting agent for Quorum Park said: “The letting to Ramboll is a great demonstration of the strength and broad appeal of NEON to occupiers across Newcastle and North Tyneside, whether they are based in the city centre or outlying business parks.

“Our strategy for NEON was to combine a city centre quality office space with all of the amenity and accessibility that Quorum has to offer. It has proven successful in attracting occupiers across a broad range of business sectors and with Verisure now fitting out on the first floor there is a real buzz around the building at the moment which is great to see.”

Ramboll, which works in sectors including transport, water, buildings and energy, is currently in the process of fitting out its NEON premises and hopes to take occupation before the end of June.

Commenting on the firm’s move to Quorum, Mark Wilson, global spearhead unit manager, said: “We are pleased that our Newcastle office relocation to the modern Quorum Park has completed ahead of schedule.

“We extend our thanks to the flexibility and support from Cushman & Wakefield in these challenging times. The team based in Newcastle look forward to settling into the new facility when circumstances allow.”

Avison Young and Cushman & Wakefield are joint agents for Quorum Park which is home to brands such as Tesco, Pure Gym, Convergys and Engie. Office suites within the NEON building are currently being marketed at a rent of £16.50/sq.ft.

Colliers International acted on behalf of Ramboll.
