A global leader in the oil and gas sector is launching a new office in North Tyneside.

 

Saipem Limited has announced it will be opening an office in North Tyneside Council’s Swans Centre for Innovation (CFI) based on the Swans Offshore Energy Park in Wallsend. Its services include drilling, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of pipelines and complex offshore projects in the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors.

 

In addition to its main office in Surrey, Saipem has chosen to open an office in the North East of England in order to strengthen links with the region’s established supply chain.

The Cylinder Service Centre has been trading for more than 20 years and specialises in hydraulic cylinder design. It has been acquired alongside Tyne and Wear Oils, which was established in 2015 to provide lubrication and engineering fluid services.

Energy consultancy Utility Alliance has expanded into Tyneside with plans to create more than 60 new jobs.

 

The fast-growing firm, which was launched in Hartlepool, has opened a second office at Quorum Business Park in North Tyneside.

 

The company will create more than 60 new roles in an initial phase, with further growth planned.

Barrier Ex, a manufacturer of hazardous area products and services, has unveiled plans to expand into the Middle East and the US in 2019 as part of its international growth strategy, which is being supported by Scaleup North East.

 

The Wallsend-based business will also create an additional 14 jobs over the next two years and is forecasting an increase in turnover to £6m within the same period. The Scaleup North East programme will assist Barrier Ex with this future growth.

Mayborn Group, the home of much loved baby brands Tommee Tippee and Gro, today announced that it had secured the lease on a new office building on Balliol Business Park, North Tyneside, from which it will drive its next phase of growth.

 

The new site, which will become the Global Headquarters for Mayborn, offers twice the footprint of its current office which is situated on the southern fringe of Cramlington, and will be fitted out to Mayborn’s specification to create a unique working environment reflecting the sector.

Formica – which makes laminate products for the residential and commercial sectors from its sites in North Shields and Newton Aycliffe – saw its turnover grow from £64m to £77.5m for the year ending June 2017.

North Shields’ Kykloud, which was founded by Ed Bartlett and Nick Graham in 2011 to provide asset management and mobile building inspection software, has been acquired by Texas company Accruent, which develops software that allow organizations to manage the lifecycle of their physical resources.
